Sequentis (Bayliss 60′) Delivered

As a custom sportfishing boatbuilder, we take the requests of our owners and do our best to bring them to life. When collaborating with a long-time Bayliss Boatworks customer, the vision for a 60’ walkaround was put on the drawing board. With a history of 38 traditional sportfishing boats and five center consoles, the idea of the new project is a first for the company. The challenge helped our team grow and push past our previous limits, and with the project now complete, Sequentis is officially on the water as the first walkaround from Bayliss Boatworks.

Sequentis is designed to be a life-support system for a South Florida live baiting team. 360 degrees of fishability was the goal, and when engineering the livewell plan, our team collaborated closely with the captain and various leading live bait fishing experts to create an innovative system for the walkaround build.

In keeping with the 360-degree fishability approach, we installed two forward livewells. The portside bow is a traditional livewell and the starboard bow has four pitch-bait tubes. The transom also holds both a livewell and fish box. In the cockpit, a custom-built removable livewell with built-in rocket launcher will be a versatile element of the build. There are also livewell hookups in the service lockers for traveling on-deck livewells or additional pitch bait tubes. All livewells are fed via either a single variable speed AC powered pump, or dual DC power Hooker electric pumps. Proper pump selection and drainage were both key to make the intricate system function properly. This is the first build we have completed that includes livewells on the bow, which is also unique to the industry. Having the livewell accessibility creates full access to bait with ease.

The exterior is also brimming with efficient storage and attention to detail. Hand selected teak makes up the cockpit deck, raised bridge floor, and forward walkaround deck, as well as the transom. Our exterior carpentry crews used traditional steam bending techniques to shape the walkaround deck and the result is as beautiful as it is durable. The bridge features a starboard side dash with two Release Marine helm chairs along with a tackle center, a dinette table starboard side, and a port side sofa. A sun pad and a forward bench can be found on the bow, as well as an anchor locker forward of the livewell and bait tubes.  The starboard-side bridge bench seat houses a quick-change helium tank with custom bracketry for ease of use when the wind is lights. On the days where the kites get wet, there is specialized storage in the backrest of the aft bridge bench seat, which features fans for drying.

As is the case with all Bayliss boats, Sequentis is also built with creature comforts in mind. Below deck features include a salon and galley with a Mile cooktop and speed oven, a Subzero unit, coffee maker, and a stainless-steel sink. Also included in the interior is a day head with shower starboard, and a forward stateroom with twin bunks. Storage is maximized throughout with plenty of cabinet space and storage located underneath the sofa and both bunks. Though her interior is smaller in size than our standard sportfishing yachts, the same attention to detail was carried out when building her custom teak cabinetry, sofa, and bunks items.

To make moving between fishing locations a breeze, Sequentis is powered by two MTU 12V2000 M96X diesel engines and has a fuel capacity of 1,650 gallons. The express-style build has one Seakeeper 18, a 25kW Northern Lights generator, and is equipped with the latest in marine electronics technology.

Sequentis was christened at Bayliss Boatworks in Wanchese, NC on June 17th. You can find the 60-foot walkaround on her livebait fishing missions down in South Florida each winter, and near Cape May in the summer.
